Buddy Weaver began calling in his native state of Hawaii in 1977. He is a third generation Square Dance pioneer, starting the first Advanced program in Hawaii and the first Multi-Cycle New Dancer programs in Hawaii and San Diego. Buddy has been featured caller in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Sweden and twenty four United States.
He is the first American Square Dance Caller to call and teach in (post cold war) Poland; first American caller featured in Tasmania, Australia.

Since 1981, Buddy has made over 150 commercial Square Dance recordings; he is producer of Blue Star Records/ Dance Ranch CDs/ hi hat records. The first and only record producer to make single CDs with music, instruction and calls that introduce Square Dancing to non-dancers; the first to produce "complete tip per CD". Buddy is an accredited member of CALLERLAB, he works on program committees and serves as panelist at caller conventions.

Buddy and his family moved to San Diego, California in 1995, where he calls for professionally run programs in San Marcos, Northridge, and Riverside; dance events in Solvang, and Rosarito Beach. Starting in mid 2008, Buddy became club caller for the Ruffles and Beaus Club in Balboa Park - a Plus DBD club.
